A gorgeous lace gown, a vintage ribbon-wrapped bouquet, a copy of The Origin of Life, Dr Hollicks Complete Works: Marriage Guide (published in 1902), and a poodle with his very own floral collar are just the beginning of wonderful elements that I get to share here today! Details aside though, Rita and Casey’s wedding was a fantastic celebration of the life they have built together, perfectly reflected their personalities, and was laid-back fun from beginning to end! I am so happy to have been a small part of it all, quietly documenting the memories for them to enjoy for years. But seriously, you have to scroll down and check out their pup Tino…
Rita wore this gorgeous Tracy Reese for BHLDN gown, accessorized with a headpiece by Mignonne Handmade and Seychelles “On The Floor” in Vacchetta. Casey’s suit is hand tailored by Nathaniel Adams for Secret Empire. Florals by Joseph’s Florist.
Rita treasures older things that have a history to them. Her table numbers all featured a vintage wedding photo from her collection of old prints. But what I found most touching was the bit of lace she had the florist wrap around her bouquet. Amongst the strands are a row of gorgeous, satin-covered buttons; she explained that they came off of Casey’s grandmother’s dress. The dress itself wasn’t in great shape so it was going to be tossed but with her mother’s suggestion, they saved the strip for sentimentality and then used it with the bouquet!
The cute factor on Tino is off the charts! It was hard choosing these images, I just wanted to include every last one. Joseph’s did a great job using the floral scraps to make this collar :)
In the few weeks leading up to their wedding day, Rita and I were exchanging emails to firm up timelines, etc and she never failed to send an image or two of another detail she was incorporating into the day. When she sent over the lace parsol, I could barely contain my glee!
Van Vorst Park made the perfect backdrop for Rita and Casey’s portrait session. And I especially love the close-knit community in Jersey City, we were stopped more than once by friends who wanted to wish them well!
Everyone who knows me, knows I’m a sucker for cats and dogs. I mean, Rita and Casey are a gorgeous couple, but Tino totally makes this family portrait ;)
I have to admit, I love a good shoe shot! And I’m always trying to find new ways to do them…
The vintage ride almost didn’t make it from Staten Island, but so glad it did!
This next shot is one of my favorites…
Nothing like having your name in lights on your wedding day! Well done, Landmark Loew’s Theater, well done!
Catherine Kut Events did a fabulous job helping to transform the inside of the theater!
This cake table, literally takes the cake! Between the handmade sign commemorating the day, the vintage cake stands, the naked cookie cakes, (yes cookie cakes, from Fatty Cakes NY!) and gorgeous butterfly dome, it was almost too much. One of the first details I learned of was this dome Rita had custom made by another local Jersey City artist behind the name of Alfred & Alma’s Insect Shoppe. Stay tuned, I’ll be featuring more of Michelle’s work later this week, she’s such a talented lady!
First dance to Mazzy Star’s Fade Into You. Beautiful.
As if you couldn’t get better than the naked cookie cakes, out came handmade zeppolis with cannoli filling!
The Sons and Heirs, a fantastic tribute band honoring The Smiths and Morrissey played for an hour. I must say, this was a new one for me and it was an awesome time!
I’d say Casey definitely enjoyed the band :)
Casey’s sister performed a touching medley for them…
Rita and Casey, thank you again for letting me capture every last moment! Your wedding was simply fabulous and I wish you all the best in the future! xoxo
*Side note – I first met Rita through the local Jersey City city shop, Kanibal Home. In addition to her day job as a marketing manager, she makes up one half of the talented design duo behind Rubella Jewelry that Kanibal carries. I’ve since taken jewelry-making classes under her tutelage and I highly recommend taking a look at her and Samantha’s work, it is nothing short of vintage fabulousness :)
