Part I: The New (Romantic) Nautical Wedding…Maritime Parc, Jersey City, NJ

A nautical-themed wedding is a popular choice for many couples. It immediately conjures up thoughts of seaside summers, sand between your toes, leisurely boat rides, and cool nights cuddled up in a porch swing watching the waves…Wow, do I ever want to be at the shore right now :)

For wedding decor, it’s a theme easily found all over Pinterest with tons of creative ideas, usually revolving around navy and white stripes and white lanterns. So those were the first things we nixed! Instead, we went with a color palette of bright corals, soft gray and splashes of white. I’m so happy to share my images from this shoot, which was recently featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs!

Finding a sailboat proved to be the easiest part of the shoot. Eric Puleio of Narwhal Yacht Charters Inc. provided a beautiful boat, if only he could have controlled the weather for a little less rain! Our models were very professional regardless and we had a blast sailing from Pier 25 in Manhattan to our venue location, Maritime Parc at Liberty State Park. And despite the elements, makeup artist Sabrina Gilbert NYC created flawless skin and an updo that transformed into beautiful waves for the reception portion of the shoot.

Lauren and Matt’s rings (along with his vintage Rolex) were on loan from Alice Kwartler. Stepping into her antique’s store is indescribable. There are silver and sparkly things everywhere. It was hard to concentrate on picking out these few items with so much around to choose from!

When it came to wardrobe, we found a dream team between Angelique Bridal and Nauman Piyarji. Sarah Jassier’s boutique is one of the only shops in the country to carry Gemy Maalouf gowns. The minute we saw it, we knew. Lauren just looks stunning. And I love how the drape in the front resembles the folds in a sail. Sarah tipped us off to Nauman’s work. It’s impeccable. His main focus is on the fit, then the fabric. He even came along and spent the day with us. He’s so much fun!

Ashley turned out a classic-looking tablescape with the help of chic chair covers and linens from Nuage Designs. “The table linen in particular reminded me of sunlight glistening over the ocean. It was a perfect fit,” Ashley says.

L’Oasis Floral Design created the bridal bouquet using Sunset Peonies, Tiffany Roses, Hyacinths and Dusty Miller foliage. Their spectacular centerpiece is arranged with Poppies, White Peonies, Ranunculus, Breathe of Spring Spirea, and Snow Ball Viburnum. Suite Paperie tied all of our elements together, quite literally, with a sweet sailor’s knot, gorgeous stationery and even a die-cut anchor on the menus.

I can not say enough good things about the creations from Madison Lee’s Cakes. She bought seashells to make the molds and crafted the netting out of fondant. Everything you see is edible, down to the brown sugar “sand.” She’s just amazing!

I could not have asked for a better parting shot! It’s everything we wanted the shoot to be, romantic, timeless and elegant…
