When you show up to photograph a child’s first birthday party, and the first thing you see are handmade “trees” straight from The Lorax, you know it’s going to be a good party. Never mind the other Dr. Seuss-inspired party items, including a Horton Hears a Who two-tierd birthday cake. But after photographing Arlene’s bridal and baby showers, I knew the decor for her son’s First Birthday party would not disappoint. I am so honored to be a part of her family’s special occasions! Without further ado, Marco’s First Birthday awaits you…and that is about the extent of my rhyming skills :)
“Oh the Places you’ll Jello” – I just loved these! I finally had to ask how she made them because they were just so perfect! The trick is to scoop out half of an orange or grapefruit, fill the peel “mold” with jello. Once it sets, you cut them into quarters and serve! The kids (and adults) loved them!
This cake is just fabulous, and so yummy :)
Arlene had framed a few Dr. Seuss sayings for the food table, it was a really great touch!
Arlene was pretty surprised one of these were eaten by the end of the party…
And no kids’ party is complete without a bouncy house…
One of the Lorax trees!
The birthday boy gets his first look of his party!
The giant beach balls were a hit!
Another genius addition to the party…pack n’ play + assorted beach balls small enough for tiny hands = happy contained kiddies! I adore this idea and the kids all loved it!
I love capturing candids at a party, especially smiles and hugs between family members who haven’t seen each other in awhile..
This is one proud birthday boy! Pretty soon, he’ll be doing this all on his own. Watch out!
So serious! Love this one…
Happy Birthday Marco! Here’s to many many more…
